They are the longest mountain range in the world which makes Bolivia known for its high elevation. Along the western side of Bolivia is the Altiplano which is the second largest mountain plateau in the world. Lake Titicaca is located on the border between Peru and Bolivia, and is the fourth largest lake in South America. Approximately 250 miles southeast of Lake Titicaca is the fifth largest lake in South America which is Lake Poopo. Over the past few years, Lake Poopo has dried up severely due to dry weather and has decreased 98% from its original size. The average temperature in La Paz is 47℉ whereas the average temperature in the eastern lowlands is 79℉. Bolivia’s rainy season is from December to February.
